Lightwave Core Q&A
A while ago I sent a letter with questions to NewTek and today I finally got the answer
Thanks Jennifer
The registration page just shows a dollar price, will there be a global pricing or just the US dollar price ?
HardCORE memberships are available directly from our Web site, which transacts in United States dollars only.
Does the "continued updates to LightWave v9" include new builds with features or just service releases with bug fixes?
We’ve announced that we are not planning any more feature releases for the 9.x series. We may ship a bug-fix only service release that will be available to all registered 9.x customers. For HardCORE members, we may add some improvements to 9.x series to make it compatible with the new LightWave CORE technology.
Does the "annual Q4 product release" refer to /include the final release version of Lightwave Core ? The wording on the faq and the product description differ here.
The annual Q4 product release refers to the first version of LightWave CORE, slated for shipment in Q4 2009.
What does the "special pricing" refer to?
Special pricing refers to the price break of US$395 for charter members.
Is the HardCORE Membership annual or just a beta program? If yes, does it automatically renew itself ?
The HardCORE membership is annual and can be optionally renewed each year.
If the membership runs out, is there a different pricing when you take a break?
For HardCORE charter members, the price is guaranteed at $395 for the next year. We’ve made no other future HardCORE membership pricing announcements or commitments.
I assume the whole membership program is under NDA conditions, or is it ok to write about certain thing in public?
NewTek has not required NDAs for HardCORE members to this point. NewTek asks that CORE members refrain from posting HardCORE information and materials to the public forums. NewTek wants to build a collaborative community that allows the company to make details public as warranted.
Is there actually a native cocoa version for the mac or is this just ontop of the QT Libs ?
The 3D Development team is working on a native Cocoa version.
You mention "special invitations to VIP events", will there be any outside the U.S. ? Or will have members outside the U.S. have access to these events, too?
Yes, these will be some virtual events that are available to HardCORE members worldwide.
Does the current dongle work with LightWave Core?
This is yet to be determined, but most likely it will remain an option.
Is the SDK available with the first release of LightWave Core inside the HardCore membership program?
This is to be determined. We plan to release it at the time of the first (Q1) release or shortly afterwards.
Does the T-Shirt come in different colors?
No, the shirt will come in only one color. HardCORE charter members have been invited to create and judge the design, and charter members will also be able to choose the size of the t-shirt. HardCORE charter members will also receive a free LW CORE ball cap.
